The work of Technicolor’s VFX studios MPC Film and MR. X, often invisible, enabled Cuarón to realize his vision of recreating in fine detail the time and place of his youth.

In this exclusive interview, Cuarón discusses how Technicolor was more than a service house but a true artistic collaborator. “They understood immediately the language that we were after – the conceptual challenge that we were setting off to do with this film,” he says. “I wanted this picture to have information in every inch of every frame – and approach every frame as an Ansel Adams photograph.”
